Russell Brown A Blogger

Russell Brown a journalist and also called as the “internet specialist” is a blogger. Despite the title of his appearance, Brown couldn’t help but talk about current issues and has also said what Ze Frank said yesterday - "we've been so obsessed with building baseball fields, we've forgotten to play in them", in particular referencing the groundswell created around the New Zealand Copyright Act changes – social media tools for positive and useful gains rather than phatic communion. Moving on to happier things…

As an example of the American Zeitgeist! But unluckily it is only available in the US – the industry is bound-up in an old, but sticky, distribution network. The BBC on demand video has similar geographical constraints as well as time limitations. Whatever happened to archiving forever?

Television in particular and big media in general, needs to understand that they can’t keep everything “within the tent” – open up and let freedom shine… It’s ludicrous that You Tube allows kids to do simple things that for technological and political reasons often can’t be done on mainstream media…

The children of today don’t watch much broadcast TV any more – they’re more followers of made for web video. The next generations expectations of media are completely different to our – media needs to find lower cost ways of creating content. Look for new ways to make television – discuss things, don’t dumb it down, let the viewers bring it closer to the web.
