Russian popstar Oksana Pochepa
The Russian popstar Oksana Pochepa admits that she was the girl photographed frolicking with Mel Gibson on a beach, and also says that she has fallen for the actor.
Pochepa says she is besotted by the actor and hopes their love is “strong and long-lasting”. Just weeks after the images were available, Robyn Gibson, a 52 year old wife of Mel Gibson filed for divorce.
“This is serious and I hope that our union will be real and strong and long-lasting,” the Sun quoted Pochepa as saying. “We are different people, but Mel is a grown man and knows precisely what he wants and me too — I know what I want,” she added.

Tech Mahindra Takes Satyam
Tech Mahindra has outbid Larsen and Toubro and other companies and has purchased a 31 percent stake in the fraud-hit Satyam Computers on Monday. Tech Mahindra ended the offer of 58 rupees per share for Satyam, and is likely to pay 1757crore rupees for a 31 percent stake in Satyam.
The government selected Satyam Board to conduct the concluding bidding in Mumbai this morning. “We have entered the final stage of the bidding process, and on Monday we will conduct the financial bidding in Mumbai to find the highest bidder for a 31 percent stake in Satyam Computer,” Satyam Board Chairman Kiran Karnik had said.
The concerned bidders put forward their bids by 9 a.m. on Monday, after which a technical evaluation was held. Larsen and Toubro was considered to be the front-runner in the race, and Tech Mahindra was the second biggest candidate.
“In such a big step, the company doesn’t wait till the eleventh hour to take a call. Whatever has to be decided, has already been decided,” was said by Tech Mahindra
The Pune based company is a combined project between Mahindra & Mahindra Limited (M&M) and British Telecommunications. Tech Mahindra is sixth largest software exporter and second largest Telecom Software Provider in India.

Furadan or the Carbofuran
Furadan or the Carbofuran is one amongst the toxic carbamate pesticides, which is marketed with the trade name as Furadan, by FMC Corporation and Curater. One of its uses is to control the insects in a wide variety of field crops, including potatoes, corn and soybeans.
It is a complete insecticide, meaning the plant will absorb it through the roots, and from here the plant distributes it all through its organs like the vessels, stems and leaves, where insecticidal concentrations are attained. Carbofuran also has contact activity against pests.
Carbofuran has one of the highest severe toxicities to humans of any insecticide widely used on field crops. A quarter teaspoon may be deadly. Most carbofuran is applied by commercial applicators using closed systems with engineered controls so there is no exposure to it in preparation. Since its toxic effects are due to its activity as a cholinesterase inhibitor it is considered a neurotoxic pesticide.
Associated Press reports that the Philadelphia-based manufacturer of a pesticide blamed by conservationists for the poisoning deaths of lions in Kenya says it's taking "aggressive action" to prevent misuse of the product, halting sales to the country and trying to buy back supplies.
The carbofuran pesticide is marketed by the FMC Corp. as Furadan. It's used to control insects on crops such as corn, rice and sorghum. Its granular form was banned in the mid-1990s after it killed 2 million birds.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency moved last summer to stop its use on food crops.

FMC Vice President Milton Steele says the company has no proof its product was involved. But he says it wants to work with conservationists to resolve the problem.

The Uptick Rule By SEC
SEC is predictable to suggest in the next month the uptick rule which may be restored in the stock market. The uptick rule requires short sellers and only short stocks on an uptick and is designed to prevent bear raiders from driving stocks down with aggressive shorting.
The S&P 500 is down 53% since the rule was scrapped in July of 2007 and Barney Frank and Chris Dodd are among the proponents of bringing it back.
It is not a very bad idea, but it is immaterial. There are plenty of very good causes for the stock market to be down since July of 2007 and it seems doubtful that short sellers are behind it all. Short sellers didn't force banks to make crappy loans and they didn't make consumers overextend themselves.

The children of today don’t watch much broadcast TV any more – they’re more followers of made for web video. The next generations expectations of media are completely different to our – media needs to find lower cost ways of creating content. Look for new ways to make television – discuss things, don’t dumb it down, let the viewers bring it closer to the web.
